Milkman's Trip To The Smithsonian

While in DC for the ceremony at The Wall recognizing our Dustoff & Medevac heroes, I spent some time touring the Smithsonian's Museum of  American History.  The have a fantastic and very moving exhibit of displays and artifacts of our military history in war time.  In the Vietnam section, I was taken aback by the Huey on display.  For those of you familiar with the wonderful film "In The Shadow Of The Blade", you will immediately recognize the serial number "092" as the ship that toured the U.S., providing a connection to our past, and a bridge to the future in dealing with our service and the sights and sounds that never seem to go away.  The display is very authentic and will bring out many memories as you view it.

Please continue down to see what else I discovered!

Keep going.

Brings back memories, huh?

Yep, DUSTOFF & MEDEVAC is prominently recognized for the valiant efforts and successes of our rescues!

And if that wasn't enough to make us proud...Look what is pinned to the soundproofing mat of the "hell hole"...

Thanks to 159 pilot CW4Tom Landis (still on active duty and still flyin') who pinned our beloved patch to the ship when it came to the Denver, CO area.

I don't know how long the exhibit will be on display, but if you get an opportunity to go there, it is a must see.
